The Serpent
Knots creating a serpent like creature moving towards the photographers on the shoreline at Snettisham on the Wash, North Norfolk. The Knot is a dumpy short legged stocky wading bird and forms huge flocks in winter which wheel and turn in flight flashing their pale underwings. Many Knots use the UK estuaries as feeding grounds both on migration and in winter. Large numbers visit the UK in winter from their Artic breeding grounds.
