Light and Dark in Cadgewith

I found this one more difficult to do in a tonal painting. The buidings were fine as they form very distinct shapes. There was too much detail on the beach with so many fishing boats to concentrate on patches of tone. I had a go but the original is overworked and messy.

May be what I need to do is go back and work from my paintings again simplifying the shapes even more and emphasising tonal contrasts.
