Schloss Schönbühel

Schloss Schönbühel stands 210 m high on a cliff, on the right bank of the Danube, about 5km from Melk.

The castle was initially built in the early 12th Century by Marchwardus de Schhoenbuchele, on a site where it is believed that a Roman fortress had stood many years before.
