Virgil Room
A short flight of steps at the lower end of the Great Hall leads into the Virgil Room. This was originally the center of the harem, the Bey's private apartments, with the various rooms opening off it. Notable features are its cruciform plan and its decoration (19th century). The central dome has rich stucco ornament, and the walls are clad with typical 19th century faience tiles.
