Everyday Bag (View 2)
This bag is the Everyday Tote bag by Heather Ross (from her book called Weekend Sewing). I wanted a REALLY big bag for carrying quilts to guild meetings, transporting beach blankets, etc. I increased the length of the bag by about 6 inches and decreased the width by 2 inches.
The outer and handle fabric is from Amy Butler's Love collection, and the inside lining is a yellow cotton I found on sale. I ironed heavy-weight interfacing onto the outside fabric and lightweight interfacing onto the lining fabric, for stability and shape.
I attached the handles using a single-fold binding technique (to make it look like the photo in the book). It looks like a lot of other people who sewed the pattern made the same modification. I kept the straps unsewed to keep them wide and comfy, added an extra pocket and a magnetic snap to keep the bag closed.
The bag was not particularly difficult to make, and I look forward to using it!
