Wedding Birds! View1

I created this wedding cake topper for my upcoming wedding! I was inspired by Ann Wood, who makes incredible handcrafted birds and animals.

The birds are handsewn and made with satin fabric and stuffing. The legs and beaks are made with sculpey-covered wire.

The bride has a tulle veil with beading, a tulle bodice with blue sequins (similar to my own dress), and beading on the tail.

The groom has beaded buttons, a top had and bowtie made from glitter-covered cardboard, and a flower boutonniere.

The base is a styrofoam cake round covered with tulle and ribbon. The semi-circular white flowers are fabric-tape covered wire and vintage millinery flowers. The base leaves and flowers are vintage millinery flowers as well.

The base measures 6 inches round in diameter, and the total height is 12 inches.

This project took a very long time (lots of intricate details), but it was a lot of fun. Enjoy!
