FBI NEW YOK CITY Parking Placard

Here is a small part of a parking placard used in New York City.

 

The pictured item is about one third of the whole parking placard. I didn't include the whole item because I am sure they still use something similar nowadays. The small portion pictured was used in the 1980s. They changed the colors periodically.

 

The portion of the placard not pictured, has the word POLICE on it in large letters, a vehicle number, and an expiration date.

 

It also had numerous traffic matters listed on the back for which the parking placard could not be used. Included was double parking, fire hydrants, bus stops, etc. It also said that it could not be used at toll booths.

 

I don't know whether these placards were actually made by the New York Police Department, and then distributed to all other agencies, but I believe this is the case because all of the placards looked the same from a distance. It would make sense to centralize the making and distribution of these items.

 

The NYPD is, of course, one of the greatest police agencies in the world.
