Alaska State Troopers uniform insignia
Here is some uniform insignia from the Alaska State Troopers.
Click on the pic for a larger view.
All of these pins are associated with the uniform, whether it is the general duty uniform or the dress uniform. These are not novelty items.
The individual items are numbered and explained below.
1. This is the pin worn by canine officers. It is worn above the right pocket.
2. This item is worn in pairs on the shirt collars.
3. This is the pin for AST members who are on the Special Emergency Reaction Team, commonly referred to as SERT. The letter R of SERT is often mistaken for the word, Response. This item is worn above the right pocket. Other police agencies refer to their teams as Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Special Operations Response Team (SORT), Emergency Response Team (ERT) or still other names.
4. This item is worn in pairs on the collars of the dress uniform, also known as a tunic. The three words on top are Loyalty, Integrity and Courage, and these three words are also worn on a patch which is worn on the dress uniform. These collar badges have the maker’s mark on the back, also known as the hallmark.
5. This pin is worn by those who meet a certain standard of fitness. In reality, I have heard that the pin is most commonly worn mainly by newer members.
6. This pin is worn in pairs on the shirt collars of sergeants. These pins can also be worn on the shoulders of jackets. This is the current style for the sergeant rank. In times past, the sergeant rank used only the three stripes or chevrons, and at another time the rank used the insignia that has three chevrons on top, three on the bottom, with a diamond in the center.
There are other pins for the AST uniform to denote ocean boat operator, dive unit and pilot. I don’t have photos of those items for you.
Thanks to the guys who helped me get these photos so I could put them into one large pic showing all of them at once. STILL NEED these items in my AST collection.
For those who watch the television show, Alaska State Troopers, you can sometimes see various AST members wear some of this pictured insignia, but it’s rare that you get a good look at it. Now you can better identify what you’re seeing.
I have other AST insignia items pictured on my web site devoted to AST insignia –--

STILL NEED lots of different AST insignia for my AST collection including the blue campaign hat, the dress uniform/tunic, corporal chevrons for both the shirt and the tunic, any badges and many other items. Feel free to contact me if you have any available – thanks.
