Mothering Sunday
Mother's Day
Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Lent, Laetere Sunday.
In the medieval church people went to their Mother Church (the church where they were baptised) to make their Easter Duties on this Sunday.
Usually their mother church was close to where their mother lived and after Mass it was customary to go to the family home for a meal. Today we use this ancient tradition to honour Mother’s Day.
