Mac Girl says: It's the sunny bright orange. It's the accent line of green from the leaf behind. It's the graduated gray background. It's the color with this one. Yeah.

Mac Girl says: This is a highly unusual perspective for a flower photo, and a beautiful photo to boot. It also reminds me of all of the times that I've watched Matt literally climb, crouch, hang, slither, reach, and bend to get the truly unique angles that are a trademark of his photo stream.

Mac Girl says: There's no sun here, and there shouldn't be. These are deep shade plants that can tolerate at most just the odd dapple of sunlight as it passes swiftly through the branches overhead. The depth in this photo is spot on. Any more separation and we would miss the mottled shades of green on the leaf, any less and the flower would fade into the rest of the scene.

Mac Girl says: Two things make this a fave for me. First, the knife-edge focus that makes the hairs on the buds literally pop out at the eye. Second, the negative space on the right half of the photo. The purple/blue hue on the petals? Icing on the cake.

Mac Girl says: The color is the first thing that hits your eyes, but the detail in this shot is stunning too. A hyper-tight focus with such sharpness that you can literally count the individual grains of pollen in the frame. Sweet.

Mac Girl says: Two words: quiet beauty. Plus, it happens to be -5C here right now and these remind me of apple blossoms in spring... and warmth. :)
