Bursting Balloon Setup

Balloon filled with powdered sugar.. I threw a nail on it (by hand) from about 1m distance.. I needed about 2 or 3 nails until it bursted..

Some words about the setup:

Triggered with a hiviz sound trigger (without delay), the arduino takes the output of the hiviz trigger and triggers the wireless sender for the flash..

The main reason for using the arduino is, that I can put a delay after the flash is triggered to ensure that the flash isn't triggering a second time.. The second reason is that the delay is adjustable with an accuracy in the range of milliseconds..

The preflash delay was set to 0ms.

I guess the most significant delay comes from the rf602, as the sound needs <5ms for that distance, the hiviz about 2(?) millis, the arduino also about 2(?) millis.. But I've no idea how much delay the rf602 has between triggering and really firering the flashes.. (Could be somewhere in the range between 10 and 50ms?).. Since the rf602 is not especially created for highspeed setups..

Strobist:

HVL-42 @ 1/32 Power, 9 o'clock triggered with rf 602

SB 28 @ 1/32 Power, 3 o'clock triggered with rf 602

Special thanks to chrigu for assisting me with the preparation and the first shots..

If you try this yourself, get so ear protection! And yes, of course its really messy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask..
