Around NW Portland

We are still in temporary housing, but we plan to move into longer-term temporary housing this week. Eventually, we'll figure out where we like the best and buy a house, but for now, we're living in a very cool part of Portland called "NW Portland". The marketing term is, I believe, the Alphabet District, because the street names ascend in alphabetical order.

The neighborhood is a bit trendy, but so charming that we can easily forget that. It's a Victorian era urban neighborhood, with grand houses and brick apartment buildings from the '20s.

Amenities within a ten square block area include a couple parks (one with a zoo, rose garden, Japanese Garden), a cool little stadium, probably a hundred restaurants and a half dozen grocery stores. Several craft brewers, bakers, a kitchen store or two, a street car line and probably 30-40 boutique and retail options round out the amenities.
