NSUI express its sincere gratitude towards the student community who participated in large numbers jn yesterday's protest demo in front of SSS-I demanding the implementation of reservation in student and faculty intake and made the agitation a huge success. We also acknowledge the participation of other student organizations and faculty members who gave their unequjvocal support for the cause of social justice. Friends, yesterday few YFE activists also showed up at SSS-I with badges written "NO TO CASTE BASED RESERVATION" and were circulating appeals to the AC members against the implementation of reservation. NSUI strongly condemns such malicious and juvenile tactics to scuttle a historical affirmative action to ensure social justice for the marginalized section of this country. YFE and its brainless godfathers like Venugopal and Shiv Khera are repeatedly trying to hurt the sentiments of the marginalized community by their castiest statements. They are perpetuating a myth and misguiding their own intellect by denying the existence of caste and its prominence in Indian socfety. These ahistoric forces failed to comprehend how Babasaheb, Gandhiji, Phule, Sree Narayana Guru, Periyar, etc. led a crusade against caste and its nefarious manifestations in untouchability, ali;nation and victimization. The Hon. Supreme Court of India (Article 400, Mandai Case Judgment Vol 6, No.9, Nov 30, 1992) delineates that caste ;.; ~ practical reality in Indian society and it exists even in religions like Islam, Christianity and Sikhism. It still exists in the brutal kjllings of Dalits and other Backward Castes by the casteist feudal forces. It still exists in the form of various discriminations inflicted by your activists towards the Dalit students of AliMS, and liT's and many other institutes. It was the UPA government's commitment to uproot such dangerous tendencies from the society culminated in the implementation of OBC reservation was part of a historical step to ensure social justice to these sects. Because Indian National Congress realizes that the deprivation of OBCs is very special case of the larger national issue: here the basic question is that oi social and educational backwardness and poverty is only a direct consequence of these two crippling caste-based handicaps.
