As the campaign for JNUSU election is gearing up, different organizations are coming up with their agenda. AJSA and DSF which were in the last JNUSU have started talking again the same rhetoric and hollow phrase mongering. since they t miserably failed to carry forward any consistent struggle against administration for rhe student demands. In the SIS and .

.

SSS GBM, AISA's councillor candidates unleashed a heap of lies in their speeches. They spoke that the administration is ready for seven new hostels, in principle, which they claim their achievement but we would like to ask them when these hostels will be erected. Around 1000 new students of this semester will not get hostel for at least one year. \Vill these sllrdents be able to stay in these hostels which are made in the imagination of AISA-DSF led JNUSU? Not a single stone have been laid for the construction of a single hostel. AISA and DSF have left the student community to face many .

hardships. \:Vhy the Crisis of l\·1Cl\1? Both AISA and DSF at·e busy in mud-slinging on each other. They arc claiming that no organizations supported them on this issue but they must answer what attempts were made by them? Did they go among common studenrs? Did they approach and request for teacher's support? Did they really do ground work for MCM? It is shameful thai AIS/\ even did not mobilize the students in proportion to the organiznrion·s strength and blarne.s others How long students have to manage without hostels? Hostel crisis is one of the persisting problems in our university but .

administration has not sho\.Vll any concern to address this issue. Students are forced to compromise with their study and the AISA-DSF led JNUSU has consistently offered its deaf enr. In tbe current session hundreds of studenrs have to manage without hostel for \.vhole year. .AISF appealed to JNUSU to build protracted students movement for all the time pressing demands and AISF believes thnt for all that we need is to wage a protracted !>truggle. .

\Vhat h~ppencd to Deprivation Points for .Muslims? It is a well known fact that the Muslim representation is very low .

in different cemres of our university and the maximum number of Muslim students is ghettoized i:1 SLL & CS. Sa~har Committee recommendations have drawn the attention of the govemment on the deteriorating condition and hnve suggested reservation for them. Administration had made a committee to look into this matter bur the progress of the committee is not known to all of us after its fonnarion. We strongly support deprivation points fer Muslims to ensure their represe!1lation in JNU. .

" 'here is the batlle against the undue weightage of Viva Voce'? \Vhcn the pattern of Viva Voce marks were analysed, discriminatory practice has unfolded in the Viva Voce which ca rTies 30 m~rks in M.Phii.!Ph.D admission. s~lprcme Court has already given a directive that not mon.: than 15% of totnl murks couiu be Gxed for Viva Voce. Bur JN U is not ready to reduce the weightage of viva voce marks as many teachers get opportunity to discriminate the studens on the bnsis of .

caste, creed, religion, region, language and so on. JNUSU has maintained n criminal silence against this Brahmanical hegemnny save token protest in front Academic Counci I. Sexual Offrnces: 1 he incidents or sexual hnrassment have .escalated in.

Increasing Gender Insensitivity and comparison to last year. It shows that the gender sensitive atmosphere is taking bad shape. But AISA-OSF led JNUSU .

has not paid any attentions on these gruesome incidents occurTing one after another. AISF has given written complaints to JNUSU, JNU administration and the GSCASH rcpresent:~tives to take proper action but no action was taken till now. Threat to Small Shopkeepers and Monopolv of Corporate llouses: On one hand JNU administration is giving regular notices to the small shopkeepers to vacate the spaces which they had been allotted for past many years. Administration wants to bring the MNCs in our university as they did last time when the Nestle Outlet \'las allowed in the campus. The need of time is to save these shopkeepers al th e same time fi ght agnin~l administration's shielding or big shopkeepers who are making undue profits harassing students and making money. AISF hns given around I?00 signatures of the .

students to JNUSU and CDC but no concrete result has come. .

The Need of Wi-Fi enabled Hostels: On the name of Wi-Fi administration are making fool to the st1.rdents. Hostels are being connected with the Wihl-."i but this facility has been locally installed to the pnrticular place in the hostel and could not be accessed across the hostel. Students cannot use Wi-Fi in their room but JNUSU has not taken a step in this regard. DTC Bus facili!~cs nnd lVJctro Feeder: The DTC buses frequency is very incgular i11 our campus. Mnny times students have to wait one or more than one cmd half hour. The ~tudents have been suffct-ing due to this irregular frequency but .

except one 's)1nbolic protest nt Vasnnt Vihar Depot, JNUSU hns not taken this issue seriously. Feeder buses have .

disappeared from the university. Apart from that there nrc number of issues \vhcre AISA has failed to achieve anything. .

After the gap ~r three years IHA mcering has been held on 30'11 August when AlSF <.;omrades sat on indefinite hunger strike. But one /\[SA Clctivist. who is also a c~rndiclate in this JNUSU election, shnmcfnll.y took the credit of AISF's .

achjevement when he communicated an Urdu news paper (Inquilab) that i\!SA wns on the hunger strike. Th~ fact is that AISA did not extend its solidarity support to tht: hunger strike. Central Campaign Committee Rahul Kumar Maurya, Kunwar Sudhanshu Lal, Durgesh Kumar Tripathi .
