achievements arc being harnmered into the new students by the ruling left. What has this union achieved despite .
having the support of the student community for two tenns? The AISA-DSF led union has been indulging in .
Psephological calculations and group equations in a continuous manner in order to secure votes and t~is has been .

a common feature since the day of their inception. The past two elections have also seen a marked shift from an .
ideological to a more 'practical' approach towards elections whereby long drawn struggles based on genuine .
concerns are avoided and group emotions based on utopia are being stoked. .
The current union is adept at gathering votes through conniving and creating the image of a vote bank in the .
minds of the student community rather than convincing the students' community by placing before them their so .

called 'achievements' whose genuineness can be easily questioned. The half-hearted (yearly) ritualistic drama of .
sit-ins and hunger strikes that began with the academic year failed to achieve anything concrete which led these .
parties claim what NSUI has already achieved as their achievement! A regressive phase of student politics has .
been initiated by these so called forward looking' backward parties, whereby the students are made to suffer to .
satiate the vested political interest of the leaders of these parties. The entire drama of the struggle for MCM and .
for the hostels (the solution to these problems were already achieved by NSUI and pamphlets brought oot post .
these achievements) were mainly intended to fool and misguide the students so that their anger and frus_tration .

could be exploited in the election. It is a well known fact that after the elections these·parties would go-into .
hibernation. This hibernation period. would last till·thc next election. Post the current election the·se parties would .
continue with their status quoist a~ama of hunger strikes and sit-ins and would fake the gen~Jine concerns of the .
students by creating just hue and cry and achieving zero resu·Jt. These exten1al portr(!yal of intellectual capabilities .

of the left parties need to be questioned in the upcoming elections. How is it that such 'morally correcC and 'highly intellectual' par1ies shamelessly misguide students by their fake protests and zero achievements? What has this union achieved? The 3000 figure for MCM has been forgotten and made into a utopian dream and similarly the struggle for hostels have been postponed (read indefinitely) till elections! Even on the issue of gender the· union has failed to reach out. to female students and address their problems. However, this is not unexpected from a party that supports patri~rchy in its strongholds. Last year in a shocking and shameful incident two goons of the CPI-ML (the parent party of AISA) had gone to rape a 14 year old armed .
