Friends, 17.09.2004 The struggle being waged in JNU under the student's union banner has reached a successful conclusion with the administration conceding all the major demands of the students. We congratulate the student community for their massive participation in this agitation which led to the successful conclusion of the agitation. The following agreement has been signed .
between the Administration and the Students' Union yesterday. .

experimental basis w.c.f. 13.9.2004. .

constructed, white washing completed, water cooler and dessert .
coolers to be installed. Agreed that the residual electricaJ/civil .
works would be expedited. .

Agreed that the process of hostel allotment will commence w.e.f. .

Agreed that due to shortage of manpower and resources this .
cannot be acceded to. .

Noted that (1) estimates already approved for upgradation of .
Yoga/Gym. Hall, construction of a new room of weight lifting, .
road lighting in Sports Complex, tennis wall for begumcrs, .
relaying of Tennis Court; (2) tenders invited for water proofmg of .
Sports Stadium; tenders under scrutiny of upgrading/relaying of .
Wooden floor Court in SAC; and (3) estimates prepared for .
Basket Ball facilities ncar KV School. .

Agreed that sports items would be supplied by the Sports Office .
to hostels on demand. .

Agreed that JNUSU would provide a list of specific.

problems/suggestions for remedial action. .
Agreed in principle for elected student representation. Further .
agreed that the Vice-Chancellor will constitute a 3-member .

committee with a senior academician as its Chairperson to .
suggest modalities. JNUSU will be invited to present its .
viewpoint before the committee. .

The University agrees, in principle, that MCM needed to be .
enhanced substantially. Since it is not possible to accede to the .
demand at the level of University itself, it was agreed that the .
University would soon take up the matter with the UGC for .
additional funds for enhancing the amount of MCM. .
Further agreed that slots under EVL Scheme may be increased if .
the existing slots are fow1d to be insufficient. .
Noted that Grievance Redrcssal Mechanism arc available at .

Centre/School/University levels. .
Agreed to provide time-frame wherever not provided for. The .
Vice-Chancellor shall forward complaints received from students .
to the University Level Grievance Conunittee within a week's .
.
time. Any faculty member being complained against will not .
form part of any Grievance Redressal Committee. .

The student complainant will have the right to be accompanied .
and assisted by an elected representative of JNUSU or any other .
student of his/her choice. .
