.
It is also to be noted that lawyer of the culprit students did not deny the acts of violence. So the Honble Court has only stayed the out-of-bounds order for the interim period and instructed the Enquiry to be completed at the earliest. .
ABVP Trying to Denigrate Hostel Enquiry Committee .
Senior Warden Dr. V. G. Hegde, who was present from the beginning of the violence and has therefore taken a principled stand to initiate action against the culprits, is being viciously targeted by ABVP from that night itself. It is also trying to denigrate the enquiry at the hostel level as several of the wardens have first hand evidences from spot about the violence. JNUSU condemns such threats by ABVP against the Hostel Enquiry Committee. .
JNU Administration and Proctorial Boards Indulgence and Inaction towards These Serial Offenders .
This very same group of students has been involved in several acts of communal targeting and violence: in Oct 2007, they grievously assaulted a senior Ph.D. scholar from minority community in Lohit Hostel. On Oct 31 2007, they indulged in massive violence during JNUSU elections Presidential Debate, and yet again on March 16 2008, they beat up a student as well as some JNU security staff. .
In the last two cases of open and public violence, the JNU administration took no punitive action against the culprits. This indulgence by the administration has systematically emboldened these habitual and communally motivated violence mongers to vitiate the campus atmosphere time and again. Latest violence in Lohit Hostel by these serial offenders is a direct outcome of this administrative indulgence. .
It is indeed a matter of serious concern why the present JNU administration and the Proctors Office always extend such indulgence towards the ABVP lumpens for their acts of crime. .
JNUSU has held a massive Protest March last night demanding exemplary punishment against the serial offenders and against any further administrative indulgence towards them. .
JNUSU will mobilise opinion in every section of the University community against the ploy of the ABVP to systematically vitiate campus atmosphere through repeated violence and hate mongering and the indulgence by the administration towards such acts through their habitual refusal to punish the offenders. .
JNUSU has demanded that the enquiry process, both at the Hostel and Proctorial level must be expedited and completed and exemplary action must be taken immediately. Any inaction and dilly dallying on the part of the administration will be strongly resisted by the JNU community. .
