Determined looking Cuirassier of the Regiment der Gardes du Corps
Small CDV by a Berlin-based photographer
Among prewar CDV, examples of the GdC in full atire are probably most sougth after, given their elite status and of course iconic helmet. I'm glad to have aqcuired this example, which provides an excellent view of the Tombak lobstertail helmet with chinscales featuring a silver Guard star and a huge silver eagle. This cavalryman is also wearing a cuirass on his Koller (uniform) which features a red Kollerborte.
The Regiment der Gardes du Corps was the 'bodyguard' Kürassier regiment of Kaiser Wilhelm II, hence looked pretty fancy.
