12 Daze of Halloween - The Shining
"Heeeeerre's JOHNNY..."
It is Paprihaven's annual 13 Daze of Halloween countdown! This year, will the fearless Blue Ranger, Akiko, remain fearless when she finds herself in the most famous, frightening, fantastically foreboding films of horror?

Bandai SHFiguarts - Akiba Ranger
Craftone - Jack Torrance
While we knew we would need to scale-merge the 1:6 Jack figure with the 1:12 Akiko, additional factors caused this shot to be more challenging than expected. Of course we wanted the scene with Jack smashing through the bathroom door as that is the most iconic.
First we were surprised that the sequence in the film never pulled back to show the full door, which we wanted in our shot.
The reason we wanted a full shot was to feature the Akiko figure. The iconic shot from the film with Wendy only has her head and upper body in frame as she's slumped against the wall, and that image is completely sold by Shelley Duvall's gaunt, terrified face. Akiko has an impassive mask, so it wouldn't have been as effective to recreate that angle.
The door was the next. Without a full door shot from the film we edited what was available.
