Cypress Hill Panorama

Here is a panorama of Tuscany’s famous Cypress Tree Hill… captured about half an hour before sunset on a clear sunny day.

It is impossible to think of Tuscany without thinking of rolling green hills and the magnificent cypress tree. The cypress tree is so quintessential and symbolic of the Tuscan landscape that it has adopted the name "The Tuscan Cypress Tree". Although this is a somewhat fitting name, it is however grossly incorrect as its real place of origin was almost certainly Persia or Syria. It was thought to have been brought to the Tuscan area by the mysterious Etruscan tribes-people many thousands of years ago who considered the plant to have mystical connections.

Nikon D800, Nikkor 50mm, aperture of f/11, and a 1/100th second exposure.
