Panther Falls

Here is a Vertorama of Panther Falls... in Canada's Banff National Park.

Although Panther Falls is by no means the most spectacular waterfall that I've ever seen (Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe/Zambian border takes some beating)... it is however the most spectacular waterfall that I've ever photographed.

The weather was lightly overcast when we arrived here shortly after noon... so we were basically shooting upwards into a dull white sky... far from ideal. But hey... when you've got a camera in your hand and you're facing a 66 meter high waterfall... you simply have to shoot it... regardless of the conditions. The spray at the bottom of the falls was also something that I've never had to deal with before... aim, click, wipe, aim, click, wipe... etc, etc. It was fun!

So... while I'd be the first to admit that this is not a fantastic photo... I've processed and posted it anyway... for Leon... Flickr's (unofficial) Waterfall King!

Panther Falls is actually quite a controversial waterfall... I found this rather interesting web-page while I was asking Google how high these falls were.

And I've posted this photo on a Thursday... go figure!? :)

Nikon D300, Sigma 18-200mm at 18mm, aperture of f3.5, with a 1/200th second exposure.
