A technical Shot
any guesses at what time of the day this pic was shot ?
it was shot somewhere around 8'o clock in the morning.
Few months back I was reading a blog by a good photograhper. This blog was more about sharing your knowledge about everything under the sun and he particularly mentioned few people who are good at their job/hobby/profession but they don't help others to learn and they try to hide the knowledge as well. Even when they are asked to share they don't share at all. The blogger mentioned about a particular shot which was like this "how to shoot a flower with a black background in day light" . The blogger went to many people to learn this technique but most of them didn't teach him except for a wonderful guy at Coorg.
From this story i did remember this shot with a black background and i wanted to shoot this myself. Last week at lalbagh i decided to try this and here is the result.
The trick is simple to fire the flash and close down the aperture. it was shot at 1/200 and F14.
Shutter speed of 1/200 with F14 will cut down the ambient light and flash will illuminate the subject.
The thing to keep in mind that when you fire the flash, there should be a good amount of the difference between this flower and the background otherwise that too will be illuminated, that will result in visibility of that background too.
Note: This is not a good shot composition wise. But it was just to share the knowledge. I believe lot of photographers on flickr must be knowing this already.
I dedicate this shot to Niveditha :)
