Hidden Treasure

The City Hall building was completed in 1910, designed by architects Rubush and Hunter (the same team that designed the Indianapolis Theatre that is now home to the IRT). The building served as City Hall until 1962 when the City County Building opened. Since then, the City Hall building has served as the Indiana State Museum and the interim home of the Central Library, but mostly, the building is sadly vacant, closed to the public, and in need of a lot of renovation.

IDADA hosted an art show in the Old City Hall during Super Bowl XLVI festivities, so I had the chance to get inside the building and see what we've all been missing. This elaborate stained glass ceiling is at the top of the interior atrium space, and it reminds me so much of the stained glass dome inside the State Capitol. I love the colors and pattern in the glass.
