One of the deadliest snakes in the world

I have written about this snake-eating snake earlier. But I got a better shot this time.

 

There were four of us. Arun, Nila and I carried cameras. But this king cobra kept turning around to face me. Perhaps it was the heavy white Canon lens. Arun and Nila managed to get good shots from all sides but I could not. This is one occasion where I got a sideways view. The straight-on shots didn't give a good view of his piercing eyes. In full resolution of 18 megapixels it looks phenomenal.

 

This one was a grown up snake not less than 12 feet. Of course, he was inside an enclosure. Arun has photographed king cobras out in the open when he went for camp in Karnataka. As I said before despite the deadly weapon for defense, this snake usually avoids confrontations. Snakes help farmers by keeping rodent population in check. King keeps the snake population in check. Web of life is interesting indeed.
