Keatings
Mary Street, Dublin. This is the interior of the former St. Mary's Church of Ireland, built in 1700-4, now John Keatings' trophy bar.
The walls of this place have seen the likes of Arthur Guinness getting married, Robert Emmet getting baptized, and more recently various besuited folk getting wrecked. When the weather is good there's a nice beer garden outside...one of the few I can think of in the inner city North Side. Bud.
Upstairs there's a "fine-dining" restaurant...but anyone I know who's eaten here reckons it's far from fine. What the hell do they expect though, it's glorified feckin' pub grub! Down here is more hotel-bar-esque with big old comfy chairs and the odd classical quartet in the background.
Since this photo was taken this bar has changed hands and is now called "The Church". Appropriately.
