Hartigans

Hartigan's on the corner of Leeson Street and Leeson Lane, unbeknownst to many, has been run by the Muldoon family for about the last 40 years. The name was never changed, because it had a well deserved recognition factor; if it's not broken, don't fix it I guess. Walking in here is like walking right back to about 1972, and I love it for that. Too many places have been destroyed over the years in the interests of fickle fashion. This is one of them that held out. Ma Muldoon behind the counter told me some great ones...the best one being that Dennis O'Brien, the Irish billionaire, is a regular here, and has been since his student days. He loves the place so much that his wife put on a surprise for him for his 50th birthday. She had the place recreated, down to the last detail alongside a much larger venue that could take the 700 or so guests that were invited to the shindig. She said she had designers camped out in the place for about 4 months taking their measurements in preperation. I suppose if I had that kind of cash I wouldn't mind my own wife bringing my local to my party. This was my first time here. It won't be my last. Maybe I'll get Dennis to spot me a few quid...
