The Children of Lir
This sculpture is the focal point in the Garden of Rememberance. It was designed by Oisin Kelly, cast in the Marinelli Foundry in Florence and unveiled in 1966. The tale of Lir's children, who were turned into swans by his jealous wife Aoife, symbolises that people are often changed utterly by significant events; in this case the Easter Rising of 1916.
