The Villager
Chapelizod, Dublin. Having grown up in a family run bar, I can tell very quicky when I walk into one. The results can either be Fawlty Tower bad, or Cheers great. This place is one of the successes. It's spotlessly clean and comfortable, and offers the kind of relaxed local atmosphere that bars in the city just can't provide. They hold weekly trad sessions in the place...it must get cosy seeing as this is the only room they have. They also have a great little beer garden to the rear that must be very popular in the summer. There's an external terrace to the front too from which to watch the life of Chapelizod pass by. If you need a break from the city and find yourself in the neighbourhood in need of a brew it's well worth the visit.
