Piramide Cestia

The Pyramid of Cestius as seen from the Protestant cemetery near the Porta san Paolo in Rome, famously etched by Piranesi The pyramid was built about 18 BC-12 BC as a tomb for Gaius Cestius Epulo, a member of one of the four great religious corporations at Rome, the Septemviri epulonum. It's the first one I've ever seen. Not a bad start either. Quite the piece of ancient geometry. The area around the pyramid is now a cat santuary. Damn cats...
