Cill Mhaoilchéadair
The church of Maoilchéadair, otherwise known as Kilmalkedar Church. This is one of the most important early church sites on the Dingle peninsula, it is traditionally associated with St. Brendan but was probably founded by St. Maolcethair who died in 636. This ruin was built in the middle of the12th century , and is a good example of Irish Romanesque architecture. I love that wind blown tree to the right.
There are a load of interesting objects outside the church itself; a tall slender Ogham stone with a circular hole near the top and a beautiful sundial stone marked in segments corresponding to the divisions of the monastic day.
