Through the keyhole

My friend Shane took us for a walk around Rome. Along the way, at the top of Aventino Hill is Piazza Cavalieri di Malta, where the monastary of the Knights of Malta are located. The piazza was designed in the late 1700s by Giambattista Piranesi Shane had told me that the piazza offered one of the best views in Rome. I was disappointed when I got there because you can't see the city at all from the space, it being surrounded by high walls and solid gates. Then I looked through a small keyhole in one of the gates...and this is what I saw. A stunning, perfect little Roman vignette...quite the surprise.
