Reapy's

Tullinadaly Road, Tuam, Co. Galway. Established in 1860. Bit of a crap image, but there was a considerable amount of drink taken by this stage. This is a wonderful little boozer straight from the wesht. A series of connected small cosy rooms full of old pine tables, whiskey mirrors and posters. The entrance to the bar shows that the place used also be a shop, but over the years the retail side of it must have slowed down with the rise of the convienence store. Now Reapy's concentrates purely on the booze...no complaints here. There was a sing song when we arrived...seemingly the boys to the left meet up here once or twice a week and belt out a few tunes, you can join in if you're that way inclined. When we were there one guy kept on insisting on singing old traditional laments all by himself, all 1,000 verses. He had me driven to distraction. There's always one I guess.

All in all a cracking spot though...no pub grub but more Tayto than you could shake a stick at. There's also a great beer garden out the back with loads of room for the cursed smoker.
