The Cottage Inn

Laytown, Co. Meath. I have found myself down in Laytown quite a lot over the last few years, whether at the races or down for work. The place isn't blessed with a selection of quality boozers. This is probably the pick of the bunch. Although it looks the part it was actually totally rebuilt a few years ago after the place burnt to the ground, and I reckon they've done a good job...keeping it looking as authentic as they could using bits and pieces taken out of bars the length and breath of the country. There are music sessions held here frequently during the week, but not having been at a session I can't testify to the quality of the tunes. There's a huge function room at the back too and an off-licence off to the side. Best thing about the place is that you've got the beach about 5 minutes walk from the front door...great to clear the head after a skinfull. The pint's not bad either.
