The Anchor Bar
AKA H. O'Hare's. Carlingford Co. Louth, Ireland.
I went to Carlingford for a stag party last weekend. It seems that the town is permantly full of stags and hens strutting their stuff. Thankfully, however, Louth's version of Temple Bar it isn't; it's a lovely place with a beautiful setting. It's a good venue for a stag/hen really, with everything within staggering distance.
This is a nice bar too. The last time I was here was about 12 years ago, and I think they've extended the place significantly since then. But the original part of the bar remains true to it's past with a narrow little shop area at the entrance, opening up to a bigger lounge at the back with the all important roasting fire. The extension is off to the side, and lacks the character of the older section. Good place for a session though, the layout keeps the young and the old 'uns happy. There's good pub grub and plenty of live music, if that tickles your fancy. View on Black
