I found this amazing car at SEMA Las Vegas 2015 during their annual automotive event. It was stunning from every angle.
This one-of-a-kind custom car was commissioned by James Hetfield (of the rock musicians Metallica) and built by Rick Dore. Nicknamed “Aquarius,” it is inspired by a 1938 Delahaye.

James Hetfield – San Francisco, CA, “Aquarius”
Rick Dore and James Hetfield’s “Aquarius” – the latest offering from the dynamic duo is this coach built custom which loosely follows the lines of a 1938 Delahaye 165 cabriolet. The aluminum body was sculpted by Marcel’s working off a design from Rick Dore and Eric Brockmeyer. It rides on a custom Art Morrison chassis with ‘34 Packard frame rails and an AccuAir Suspension. Inside is an exquisite leather upholstery by Ron Mangus while all of the chrome plating is courtesy of Sherm’s. This is the 9th custom car Hetfield and Dore have collaborated on and have raised the bar yet again! Like the Black Pearl from two years ago, Aquarius isn’t a particular make or model of car. It’s a complete custom from brilliant minds and old world craftsmen.
This custom was one of five "Goodguys GOLD award" recipients at SEMA 2015, the award signifying automotive excellence at the highest level.
