2412_0265 Does & Fawns

During the late fall Mule Deer rut, I followed a small group across the valley bottom, not far from the river. They maintained a fixed distance from me, the two or three bucks being the most difficult to approach. But curiosity got the better of some does, and when they approached, fawns in tow, I saw the potential of those snow-covered ridges as a dramatic background.

 

This kicks off a week-long photo set of wintry wildlife shots.
