2405_1359 Aurora borealis

Living Skies, continued. Here's another shot from the amazing Aurora borealis display we saw last month. This far south, in Saskatchewan near the border with Montana, the Northern Lights usually appear as a faint glow on the horizon, to the north. But on this magical night, they were directly overhead, streaming down in all directions. I've never seen anything like it at this latitude. And although I have seen some outstanding aurora displays in Canada's Yukon, this was by far the most colourful.

Photographed along Hwy 18, looking southeast, near Val Marie, Saskatchewan (Canada). Don't use this image on websites, blogs, or other media without explicit permission ©2024 James R. Page - all rights reserved.
