2401_1903 Cold Dawn

Taken two minutes after yesterday's offering, as the first light began to creep downward. The colour palette and contrast were changing incredibly fast. Contrary to many people's expectations that the prairie is "flat and boring", this park offers a river valley, buttes, badlands, hills and coulees - a rich variety of topographic features to go with its abundant wildlife. A visual feast! I can never get enough of it. And dawn is the very best time of day: in winter, for the light; in other seasons, because the visitors and tourists are still in their beds and sleeping bags!
