Closing the Working People set today with... a self-portrait. When I bought the house (getting a new roof in yesterday's post after being battered by gigantic hail), it needed a lot of work. This is a corner of my office. The room I'm sitting in right now. My computer desk sits against the wall on the right.
First I pulled down some rickety homemade shelving from the left wall, and removed more than 500 nails and screws from the walls (of the entire house). Then I ripped up old carpeting - and in two rooms found a nice wood floor beneath. Here I've just finished painting the ceiling and walls. The trim will be next - I opted for a medium yellow - but I'd get to that the next day.
I have my own stuff on the walls now, mostly framed photos and a cork board with small prints, postcards, cartoons, seashells, and other personal items. There are area rugs on the wood floor. It is a lived-in place.
Tomorrow, on to something else...
