2212_0502 Sharp-tailed Grouse

We have a lot of these in the valley and the national park, but I don't take them for granted. Especially when one is willing to pose for me.

I had parked the rolling red Toyota blind on a quiet country road and just gotten this bird in focus when along came a pickup truck, toward me, and a moment later I saw another pickup approaching from the rear. They converged on my spot at the same time and both had to slow down. This never happens. The grouse and about six others flushed, one of the drivers threw me a puzzled look of disapproval (maybe); the other one knows me and gets it. I came away with one shot. Better than nothing!
