From the 2016 files, a Redhead pair briskly paddling away from me after I stopped my car beside the pond where they were feeding. "Locally common", says my bird guide, but I rarely - if ever - saw them during my years on the BC coast, where they are only present during migration They are much more evident here on the northern prairie where they breed

 

This is the first of four photos of prairie ducks taken in recent years (since my move to the wide open spaces of Saskatchewan).
