2104_0037 Black-tailed Prairie Dog

As the prairie makes its gradual transition from winter to spring - a back and forth process that gave us some snow last week - here are some resident wildlife species - and maybe some shots of the first arrivals.

The Black-tailed Prairie Dogs are digging roots and foraging for dried grasses along with whatever green shoots may be poking through the earth. Last week's snow, now melted, should grow some grass for them. This one is having a good stretch.
