2004_0611 Spring Ice
For everyone who looked at yesterday's upload and thought, "Huh???"
This seasonal pond, created by snowmelt collecting in a low spot, was just across the road from the source of yesterday's abstraction. The sun is now behind me, not in front. The entire surface is ice. Thin ice. Last year's plant stalks are frozen in place, and clumps of frost crystals have formed overnight.
Although it's an okay shot, this image doesn't trigger the imagination quite as much. Scale is clearer. "What it is" is clearer. It was my starting point. Seven frames later I was able to zero in on the essence of the scene (filtered through my consciousness, of course).
