1801_0013 Maurice & Panda
My intent here was quite different from the candid posted earlier today. This was a professional shoot; I was illustrating a magazine story by writer and friend Judith Wright. The editor of Prairies North liked it, and it ended up as a two page spread leading into the article about training a horse for harness.
The horse, Panda, belongs to my friend Maurice. Maurice is on the left. From horses to dogs to bees, Maurice has a way with animals. They were both aware of me lurking, but I didn't set up the shot, just saw them coming and visualized how they might look as they came into the gap between tree branches and trunk. It was my first sequence of the day; later I did set up some shots, one of which made the cover. Some days you're just firing on all cylinders.
