1809_1427 Greater Yellowlegs
For comparison, here's a Greater Yellowlegs (Lesser Yellowlegs was uploaded earlier today - go back one). Note the bill, mostly black with a yellow-green base, and definitely longer than the Lesser's bill. Size is more difficult to discern, but this species is significantly larger. The white stuff isn't foam or ice, but drifts of swan feathers from the hundreds of Tundra Swans staging here on their southbound migration (go back two shots!).
Photographed at Reed Lake, Saskatchewan (Canada). Don't use this image on websites, blogs, or other media without explicit permission © 2018 James R. Page - all rights reserved.
