1401_1054 Hoarfrost

Hoarfrost mornings can be sheer delight. Interlocking crystals of supercooled water vapour form in thick accumulations on twigs, branches, grasses, barbed wire, and other exposed surfaces. The water vapour has gone directly to a solid state, bypassing the liquid state, forming directly on the surfaces, creating a winter wonderland effect. I got down low for this shot against the blue prairie sky.
