1504_1784 Frosted Nudibranch
What a morning! In two shallow tide pools not ten feet apart, I found a Frosted Nudibranch and a Sunflower Star. Here's the nudibranch, gliding serenely past my macro lens. Don't be fooled, though: this is a predator on a hunting trip. It feeds on anemones, snails, bryozoans, and sea squirts.
I used a 1.7x teleconverter with the 105 mm macro for this shot; it gives me a little more working distance so that I'm less likely to alarm a small living subject or cast my shadow onto it.
