Day 13 . . Nimes - Villefranche de Rouergue

This morning we leave the ancient Roman city of Nemausus and continue our journey north west. Stopping for fuel in the little village of Saint Hippolyte du Fort, we prepare ourselves for some seriously twisty roads, as we head into the Cevennes mountains, part of the Massif Central.

From the ancient structures built by the Romans, we come right up to date, as we head north to cross and make a stop at, the amazing Millau Viaduct, the tallest bridge in the world. Having taken in this technological marvel, we hit the road again, snaking our way north, then west once again, to our overnight stop at Villefranche de Rouergue, where we can discuss the day’s events over an ice cold bierre.
