Star Spangled Banana

The M-VNKC (aka M-ESKCJ) heads north at "WR Tower" in Granite City, IL, led by KCS Veterans SD70ACe 4006 and Progress Rail (EMDX) SD70ACe-T4 7205.

Much to the locals' satisfaction, this pair has made the Kansas City-to-St. Louis run a few times over the past week or two. Unfortunately, its morning departure from KCS East St. Louis yard is not ideal this time of year, typically resulting in a backlit shot. Plus, it doesn't help that this train is "low man on the totem pole" when it comes to getting through some of East St. Louis' more notorious rail bottlenecks. The Terminal Railroad is usually more gracious to the many UP Z trains between Chicago and Texas or California; can't imagine why.
