Escalier ensoleillé

This was a test shot tbh. When we got to this staircase the sun was behind cloud, and so I put a bare AD200 outside on the flat roof with a warming gel on it to provide some rays of light through the leaded window. However, for this shot, Nicole's face was always in shadow no matter what I did with the height of my "sun". Then the actual sun came out and I abandoned using the AD200 - mainly as when used together, it created massive hotpots on the white dress. There are ways to solve this on-set but we were on the clock :) It's always about priorities!

However, the light cast by the flash on the wall, looked much better than the real sunlight patches, and I noticed later on that whilst Nicole's face was dark, there was quite a bit of contrast and definition from the residual softer window light on it. I used Lightroom's amazing making tools to bring up and colour the light on her face to match the light from the flash on the walls and dress.
